Seven candidates, six men and one woman, are vying to succeed Thomas Bach as president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). They presented their platforms on January 30th before the IOC members in Lausanne, Switzerland. The election will take place from March 18-21 in Greece. Candidates, including Prince Feisal Al-Hussein, Lord Sebastian Coe, and Kirsty Coventry, must adhere to strict campaign rules, focusing on their vision rather than criticizing rivals. The IOC seeks a leader to address key challenges such as artificial intelligence, climate change, and reducing the cost/environmental impact of the Games. The election may hinge on the candidates' image and existing relationships within the Olympic movement.
